Featured Songs
“Happy Birthday to You” is a nice song, and very well known. “One Year Older” is a bouncier and more poignant celebration of another year of life. This song is essentially an expression of Optimistic Nihilism.
“Dear John” for a friend, neighbour and ally that has sadly become self-destructive, and has become a danger to everyone, including themselves.
Alphabetically Listed Songs
Daydreaming of a loving relationship from the depths of despair.
This song is a Brazilian-flavored romantic duet.
An experiment with intertwined piano and guitar riffs.
This virtual nature soundscape was created as ambiance for an art show at a gallery that I used to co-own with artist Ellen Joseph. The recording simulates what you would hear as you walk next to a pond and pass by two groups of frogs and birds.
This song was written during the late 70s. Greg Blake, Joan Gardiner and I performed this song as a classical guitar trio on an Ottawa TV talent show and won. This recording is of my part (the song was a three-part harmony).
Everyone needs a lullaby sometimes.
It often feels like I leave my body when I play this piece.
Peace starts with you and me.
I recorded myself playing pan pipes with lots of effects, then I added rain stick.
Generosity of spirit is the only way to secure peace.
I wrote this while living in a small house in the woods of the Sechelt Peninsula in British Columbia, under huge cedar trees. Bears frequently visited the area, and I often dreamt I was one.
This recording was made in a beautiful old church in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I played the pan flute. The church has great acoustics, and the caretakers who asked me to play inside were most gracious.
She knows this song was written for her.

I cut my finger, so I am putting energy into a different instrument tonight. I made this didgeridoo. Thanks to Betsy Gordon for the colors in 1986.

Sarah Kennedy and Mike Slinn, first time through. No rehearsal. No charts. We did not even know the same versions of the song. Crazy! Mike and Sarah sang, Mike played guitar. It was so fun!

This uses the same percussion track as Doubled Bass Groove, but sped up, and I play guitar instead of bass.
